Greetings, fellow readers! Let me take you on a delightful journey through my recent class picnic at Yoyogi Park on October 12. Organized as a potluck, our teacher had requested that each of us contribute a homemade, vegan dish to share with the group. Inspired by the challenge, I decided to showcase my culinary skills with vegan shumai. (For the recipe, click here: https://rinasfoodblog.blogspot.com/2023/10/presentation-about-recipe-nov2.html).
The weather gods seemed to be smiling upon us that day, as we were blessed with a perfect blend of sunshine and cool breezes, creating the ideal ambiance for our outdoor gathering. As we settled down on our picnic blankets, the delicious aroma of various vegan delights filled the air, creating an atmosphere of shared joy.
Among the potluck contributions, our teacher surprised us all with a mouthwatering vegan lasagna and a delectable apple pie. It was my first time trying vegan lasagna, and to my delight, the rich texture of the tomato sauce, enhanced by the addition of lentils or "レンズ豆" in Japanese, left an indelible impression on my taste buds. The blend of flavors and textures truly made it a standout dish of the day.
However, the excitement didn't end with our sumptuous feast. Our teacher, it turns out, has a hidden talent for juggling. In a lighthearted and engaging session after our meal, he surprised us by revealing a backpack filled with juggling equipment. With patient guidance, we all had a chance to try our hand at the art of juggling, leading to a burst of laughter and camaraderie as we stumbled through our initial attempts.
Reflecting on the day, I realized that communal dining experiences are a rarity in my life, making this picnic all the more special. The laughter, the shared food, and the joy of learning something new in the beautiful surroundings of Yoyogi Park created an unforgettable memory that will be cherished for years to come.
Stay tuned for more of my exciting adventures and explorations!
I felt that I was reliving the day in reading your blog entry. Your vegan shumai was especially memorable and you inspired me to try my hand at making it myself...although I doubt that mine could hold a candle to yours.
